15 May SEBASTIEN LOEB WINS IN METTET !
Despite a gloomy weather this Sunday, the show was electrifying on the Circuit Jules Tacheny in Mettet.
- Supercar World RX: Two amazing semi-finals! In the first, both VW Kristofferson and Solberg were the fastest in front of Ekström’s Audi. In the second semi-final, Sébastien Loeb was supreme. He was ahead of an incredible Andreas Bakkerud (Audi S1), penalized by a false start that forced him two take the Joker Lap twice. Despite this he stil ended in front of Peugeot driver Timmy Hansen. The three manufacturers officially involved thus ended in the final with their two cars.
At the start of the final, Sébastien Loeb was the most skilled and immediately managed to be ahead of the pack after a first bumpy turn. The French driver will stay in first position during the whole final despite a strong resistance from Petter Solberg. Behind, Timmy Hansen, last one to start, made a remarkable race and finished on the 3rd step of the podium. Ekström, Kristofferson and Bakkerud finish in this order in a final worth remembering.
- Touring Car: Steve Volders thrilled the Belgian public from start till end: the driver of the Ford Fiesta No. 77 indeed struggled for victory in the last lap, finally beaten by the Swede Fredrik Salsten (DS3). Another Swede, Daniel Lundh (Volvo C30) completes the podium …
- RX2: RX2: Big disappointment for Guillaume De Ridder who was eliminated in the first corner of his semi-final following a contact that broke his steering column. This start of the season didn’t live up to the expectations and the potential speed of the Belgian driver. In the final, the favorite, the Lithuanian Gryazin was crushed against the tire wall of the first corner by Kalliomaki, who then received a black flag. The place was then free for the Norwegian Gundersen who prevailed in front of his two compatriots Evjen and Krogstad.
- Supercar Euro RX: Crazy final in Supercar Euro RX with a ferocious fight, to the 100th of a second, between the 6 finalists. It is the Swede Anton Marklund who finally emerged ahead of the fiery Lithuanian Reinis Nittis and Cyril Raymond a little trapped at the start and who tried everything … but with no success.
