15 May SATURDAY AFTERNOON SUMMARY
Amazing atmosphere this Saturday afternoon in Mettet with a public that’s more and more numerous, conquered by a 5 stars-show…
Summary of the afternoon
- – Supercar World RX: Mattias Ekström (Audi S1) was fastest in the Q2. He is ahead of Timmy Hansen’s Peugeot 208, Petter Solberg’s VW Polo and Sébastien Loeb’s Peugeot 208. Behind them follow Johan Kristofferson (VW Polo), Kevin Hansen (Peugeot 208), Guerlain Chicherit (Renault Megane) and also… François Duval, whose Audi found a new youth after the changing of recalcitrant sensors. For the moment the Belgian driver holds the 11th place and can therefore consider taking part in the semi-finals. But there are still two qualifying sessions that are scheduled this Sunday morning.
- Euro RX Supercar: Double success for Cyril Raymond, who won the Q2 and leads the group ahead of Sunday’s two qualifying sessions. Marklund, Nitiss and the two Dubourg – Jean-Baptiste and Andrea – complete the top 5. Mickaël de Keersmaecker is currently 12th after the first two qualifications. The semifinal therefore remains possible for the only Belgian representative.
- Touring Car: At the end of the 4 qualifying sessions, our compatriot Steve Volders (Ford Fiesta) is currently at the top of the Touring Car category. He is ahead of Wilsberg (DS3), Magnussen (Ford Fiesta), Lundh (Volvo C30) and Royras (Mazda RX8). Unfortunately, our second compatriot Filip Baelus ends up at 13th place, just not enough to be qualified for the semi-finals.
- RX2: Lithuanian Vasily Gryazin dominated Q 2 and 3 in RX2. The top 5 is completed by Gundersen, Eriksson, De Ridder and Evjen in Q2 and by Kalliomaki, Evjen, Martell and De Ridder in Q3. At the end of qualifying, Gryazin is leading the way, ahead of Gundersen and our compatriot Guillaume De Ridder who has limited the damage despite delicate positions on the grid. Koen Pauwels failed to qualify for the semifinals.
See you this Sunday for an intense day that ends shortly before 4 pm with the Supercar World RX final.
