THE SATURDAY AFTERNOON SUMMARY

15 May 2018

Big atmosphere this Saturday afternoon with a growing audience, conquered by a 5 stars show…

The summary of the afternoon

Supercar World RX: Mattias Ekström (Audi S1) was the fastest in Q2. He was ahead of Timmy Hansen’s Peugeot 208, Petter Solberg’s VW Polo and Sébastien Loeb’s Peugeot 208. Next in line were Johan Kristofferson (VW Polo), Kevin Hansen (Peugeot 208), Guerlain Chicherit (Renault Mégane) and… François Duval, whose Audi has been given a new lease of life following the replacement of recalcitrant sensors. For the moment the Belgian is in 11th place and can therefore think about the semi-finals. But there are still two qualifiers scheduled for this Sunday morning.
Supercar Euro RX: Cyril Raymond won Q2 and is now leading the category before the two qualifiers on Sunday. Marklund, Nitiss and the two Dubourgs – Jean-Baptiste and Andrea – complete the top 5. Mickaël de Keersmaecker is currently 12th after the first two qualifications. The semi-final remains possible for our only representative.
Touring Car : After the 4 qualifying sessions, our compatriot Steve Volders (Ford Fiesta) is leading the Touring Car category. He is ahead of Wilsberg (DS3), Magnussen (Ford Fiesta), Lundh (Volvo C30) and Royras (Mazda RX8). Unfortunately, our second compatriot Filip Baelus failed to finish in 13th place, just outside the qualification for the semi-finals.
RX2: Lithuanian Vasily Gryazin dominated qualifying 2 and 3 in RX2. The top 5 was completed by Gundersen, Eriksson, De Ridder and Evjen in Q2, Kalliomaki, Evjen, Martell and De Ridder in Q3. At the end of the qualifying session, Gryazin was in the lead, ahead of Gundersen and our compatriot Guillaume De Ridder, who limited the damage well despite the difficult grid positions each time. Koen Pauwels did not manage to qualify for the semi-finals.

We look forward to an intense day on Sunday, which will end shortly before 4 p.m. with the Supercar World RX final.
