Circuit de Mettet - Jules Tacheny

THE FIRST BELGIAN VERSION OF THE SUPERPRESTIGIO ARRIVES IN METTET!

17 October 2019

A new competition has been launched on the Jules Tacheny circuit: the Superprestigio. This event will take place on Sunday 3 November on the circuit’s recently completed dirt track.

After Spain and France, it is now the turn of Belgium, and more precisely of the Jules Tacheny circuit in Mettet, to host its very first Superprestigio event on November 3rd. Dirt-track is a discipline that comes straight from the USA and has been popular for several years with many internationally renowned riders such as Marc Marquez, Johan Zarco and Thomas Chareyre.

“We had built a first dirt track but it was a test track. We had built a first dirt track, but it was a test track. We used it to experiment with the different materials on the ground, the inclination of the corners, the needs according to the type of motorbikes, etc. After drawing our conclusions, we decided to use it as a test track. After having drawn our conclusions, we demolished this test track and we rebuilt a brand new one respecting all the rules in force. It has already been tested by several dirt-track, speedway and flat-track riders and all signals are green”, explains Heikki Sermon, executive director of Circuit Jules Tacheny.

Freddy Tacheny, president of Circuit Jules Tacheny: “This extraordinary track complements our existing tools, further strengthening Mettet as the true ‘heart of motorcycling’ in Belgium and in particular in terms of sports training. I would like to thank all those who have made this dream come true, in particular Infrasport, the Wanty establishments and all the volunteers led by Heikki Sermon and our expert Willy Kennis”.

This first Belgian Superprestigio is therefore the perfect occasion to inaugurate this brand new track. A total of 32 riders from different motorbike disciplines (enduro, motocross, speed and supermoto) will demonstrate their skills in front of the public. Free practice, qualifying and racing will take place throughout the day from 9.30 am to 6 pm. Among the participants, we can already mention the Belgian rider Bastien Mackels, Superstock World Endurance Champion in 2017 and Xavier Simeon, former MotoGP rider currently engaged in MotoE and in the World Endurance Championship.

As for the price, the rider’s entry fee is 75€, including 5 places for accompanying persons. The general admission for the public is fixed at 15€ for adults and as always in Mettet, children under 12 years old are free.

All practical information can be found on the circuit’s website: https://www.circuit-mettet.be/superprestigio/.
